After submitting a design earlier this year, we were delighted to find out we were chosen to exhibit a garden at Tatton Park Flower Show next month. Since 1999, The RHS Flower Show has been held at Tatton Park in Cheshire. A prestigious event, it is host to 80,000 visitors each year.

Entitled ’A drop of Urban Green’ the design imagines a small unused space within a city, transformed into an urban pocket park. The garden occupies an imagined space between two buildings in Nottingham, with the aim to provide an area to relax and increase biodiversity within the hustle and bustle of the city.

The show garden enables us to showcase how a garden can work as a small public space within an urban context. A range of reclaimed materials have been used to construct the pocket park in order to limit the garden’s environmental impact. Visitors can expect to see artwork and poetry running throughout the garden to celebrate Nottingham as UNESCO World City of Literature.

After Tatton Park, this garden will be relocated to an area of Nottingham where it can be enjoyed by residents of local housing group Nottingham City Homes, who have supported the garden’s inclusion at Tatton Park.

Helen Taylor, Director said: “We are excited to promote the importance of green infrastructure in cities and share the story of why it is vital for nature, people and communities.”

Nick Murphy, Chief Executive at Nottingham City Homes said: “I’m delighted that this locally designed garden will be coming back to Nottingham. I wish Hosta every success at Tatton Park Flower Show and look forward to seeing their garden enriching the lives of our residents.”
