This week for the fourth year in a row, Team Hosta travelled down to Battersea Park in London for the 2016 Landscape Show. Tuesday was a gorgeous sunny day and the perfect setting for the event!

The landscape show is a great opportunity to see a variety of different manufacturers, many of which offer new ways of looking at old problems, particularly to help make a more sustainable world. There is a certain sense of the current trend for outdoor living, with more and more people considering their back gardens as part of the house and as a space to enjoy throughout the year.

Attending the seminars at the event helps us to stay up to date with the horticulture industry and gives us fresh perspectives and inspiration that we can bring back to Nottingham and use in our designs. We attended a fantastic talk by company ‘Shoot’ @shootgardening, who have created an online programme that saves time when creating planting plans and mood boards, and really enhances the customer experience.

It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come as a practice in the past year. Last time we attended the event we had the pleasure to meet the BALI team, and only a year later are proud to be fully accredited members. We are also further in the process to becoming full members of the SGD, another organization that proved invaluable in being able to achieve such success at this year’s RHS Tatton Park flower show.

We made the most of the weather by making our journey back to the station along the Thames path. We spotted some gorgeous planting schemes along the way and are excited to see the developments of Battersea Power station’s incredibly green and sustainable neighborhood. The finished development will include a two acre roof garden form the designers of the New York high line.
